Anti Ragging Provision
Action against ragging: Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act 1999 which is in effect from 15th May 1999 has the following provisions against Ragging. The college made following provisios for action against ragging As per the Supreme Court direction, if any incident of ragging comes to the notice of the colleges authorities, the accused student/s will be given an opportunity to explain & if his/her explanation is not satisfactory , the college authorities would expel him/her from the college.
- Ragging within or outside of any educational Institution is prohibited.
- Whosoever directly or indirectly commits, participates in, abets, or propagates ragging within or outside any educational institute shall, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term up to 2 years and / or penalty which may extend to ten thousand rupees.
- Any student convicted of an offence of ragging shall be dismissed from the educational institution and such student shall not be admitted in any other educational institution for a period of five years from the date of order of such dismissal
- Constant vigilance across the campus and outside (in college buses and areas near college) to ensure that there is no incidents of ragging.
- Publication of the anti-ragging policy across the campus and in publications to ensure maximum knowledge distribution.
- Dealing with detected cases immediately and with due diligence to ensure there is no delay in justice.
- Physical separation of first year students from the rest of the students (like separate lunch hour and remote building) to minimize contact.
- Meting out exemplary punishment (with approval from Principal) as per guidelines from JNTU to perpetrators to deter them from repeating the offense.
- Counseling of victims to ensure their return to the mainstream without fear.
Anti Ragging Committee
The anti-ragging committee is empowered to carry out is task in all ways. Some of the activities it undertakes are:
JMCT is committed to a ragging-free environment for its students and practices a zero-tolerance policy regarding ragging in any form – whether in campus or outside. An active anti-ragging cell ensures that any incidence of ragging is immediately detected and dealt with.
